How we check the rules

Every answer our tools give comes from an official source, and every page shows the date we last checked it.

Where the rules come from

• Japan: the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' Animal Quarantine Service.
• Thailand: the Department of Livestock Development's requirements, as published by Royal Thai Embassies and the Thai government.

How we keep them right

• Each rule is written into our date calculator with a link to its source.
• Automated tests check the tricky cases, like vaccines given before a microchip or a blood result below 0.5 IU/ml.
• We re-read the official sources every month and update the “checked on” date.

What we don't cover yet

• Japan's rules for pets from designated regions (Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, Guam, Iceland).
• Animals other than dogs and cats.
• Airline rules for crates and cabin travel. Check with your airline.

If an official source and our site disagree, the official source is right. Please tell us.
